When corporations like Citi partner with schools in the community, only good things can happen. Citi has been working with West Hertel and Southside schools in recent years. Citi has motivated through the Student of the Month program, assembling of the computer lab, and extending invitations to participate in family corporate events like holiday parties. Things like taking the time to read to a class, work dissection in science class, or just sharing some knowledge on life topics show their rewards through the reactions of the children.Volunteers have helped in such aspects as after school tutoring, holiday family adoptions, school supply collecting, clothing collection, and carnivals to name a few. And the students aren’t the only ones who benefit from the partnership: One Citi employee, who volunteered as a tutor, enjoyed tutoring so much that he went back to school to get his teaching degree, and now is an elementary school teacher in the Albany area.
